The evaluation of carbon dynamics as an indicator of ecosystem services for climate regulation, through the modeling of
different scenarios on land use and land cover change (LULC), is widely used in environmental conservation studies.
However, studies at a local scale that analyze the impact and cost-benefit relationship of providing ecosystem services
from the perspective of agribusiness are very rare.
Dargains, in partnership with Fazendas Reunidas Estancia da Serra, carried out the quantification, economic assessment
and carbon capture and storage mapping of past and future LULC scenarios to understand how different landscape changes can impact the climate
regulation service and contribute economically to agribusiness.
The project employed Geographic Information Systems (GIS), mapping techniques and remote sensing, as well as national
and international modeling systems to represent future scenarios and to simulate forest growth and management.
Project Summary
GIS consultancy for sustainable agribusiness planning based on the analysis of carbon storage and sequestration.
